Interior Floor

I gotta 1987 Bronco2 and I wanna redo the interior.

I am planning on doing the floor all done with diamond plate and I dont know what to put under it. Cause I dont want the diamond plate to vibrate so I wanna have some sorta material under it. thnx

Any type of caulk should do the trick. Since you will have to screw diamond plate down to existing floor, all you need is something to absorb vibration. Just lay a bunch of dots down right before you screw it up tight. Dont run lines or large areas. It might hold mosture with no way to drain out.

I would make sure that you use underbody coating to seal the floor and the bottom of the diamond plate before you install it. Otherwise you may have to do this all over again in 2 or 3 years.

You also might want to look in to using Dynamat (or FatMat, same material but less expensive). It's a very thin self adhesive pad that stereo installers use in doors and on other panels to cut down on vibration and noise. I have done the entire interior of my truck in it with the exception of the floor which will be done this spring. It'll cusion the diamond plate to eliminate any rattling.
