Big oops, I didn't do enough research before building my performance '87 2.9l with air speed density system. I've contacted all the major chip/module manufacturers, so far no one can help. Off the shelf cips are for stock configured systems so I need a custom. W/O great detail, the mods include; intake and exhaust mods, ignition, port/polish heads, port and match upper and lower intake manifolds, lighten/balance rotating assy., high lift roller rockers, 19 lb injectors, 180 thermostat, and cam. If specifics are necessary I can post it for you. Anyway it runs good with no mechanical/functional problems except air/fuel(rich at low RPM and lean in the upper RPM's) and poor idle. Is there anyone out there who can make me a chip or will I absolutely have to convert to MAF. any help would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.
If your thinking of building a 2.9l, it realy isn't worth it.
There aren't many people who are going to want to touch it because it has "too much of my time for too little money" written all over it. Call DiabloSport and see if they can put you in touch with a local Revolution Dealer who handles EEC-IV and has a dyno. Be prepared to shell out for dyno time in addition. Frankly, you could have put in a bigger engine under the hood for less hassle and better results. Sounds like one of those projects where you need to throw in the towel before it gets more expensive.
It's already too expensive to throw in the towell, the entire truck is restored like new. Diablo has been giving me the run around for 3 months. I'm not particularly automotive electronics savy, I was just hoping someone out there knows of fix. thanks
you may be able to fool it if you were able to determine the proper resistance that it would require to change the IAT or the ECT. but that would be a stretch.
