.....does anyone have any pics of an extended cab stepside, my 77 single cab highboy has been going through a rebirth with an extended cab upgrade(no rust on excab), i have an 81 stepside bed(i know the fenders fuel filler and bedmounts are different) and was wondering what it would look like with the excab body, i have seen them in 2 wheel and wasnt impressed, i dont have any pics of my truck seeing as it is still in another state with my brother gathering parts in his garage, but it sits on 39 mickeys, weld stonecrushers, d60 front 10.25 ford rear, 460, c-6, 205, 79 steering and fenderwell headers shining back to the flowmasters(and yes i miss my truck) maybe another two months till able to drive up and finish it.
in my opinion the boxy look of an 80's bed with the rounded look of 73-79's just doesnt mesh well, i seen one a while back ,supercab with later model step side and it was ugly...but thats my personal opinion.....
i agree, but when you jazz it up with lift, tires, paint, it might hide the 81 box look. the body lines do slightly match though, i have seen a single cab with this year bed and it looked awesome, my main concern was a stepside and an excab.....newer trucks look good but they have changed the flat narrow bed against the back of the cab look to a flowing same width bed and cab look ( i am curious how even a late 70's stepside would look on an xcab)
I've seen a '73-79 supercab with a flare side box - I really like it, I think it looks better than a wide box. I've seen a '80s flare side box on a '77 regular cab and thought it looked great. I've never seen one on a supercab, but I think it would look good too... Since you already have the box, set it one the pickup to see if you like it. You're the one that has to like it. If not, you may be able to trade it to a salvage yard for a older flare side box...
I was getting "anxious" and like i said my truck is in another state, i was just wondering if i could see the combo beforehand.....i am sure it is a rare combo that is why i cant even picture in my head what it will look like. so if anyone has pics.......marty; also
