I have a 2000 Excursion 7.3 dsl and the dorr locks do not automatically lock when I put it in gear. Is there a way to reprogram them to do so without going to the dealer and paying $75.00 to have them set there and turn the key off and on in sequence to get it done?
The auto-locking feature didn't start until the 2002 model year. I checked into that months ago for my 2001. There's nothing to reprogram. BTW, welcome to the forum.
My wife's 2000 EB Explorer has more features than my 2001 Excursion Limited ... such as the auto-locks, radio controls on the steering wheel, auto-climate control, etc.
Yes I was disappointed when I received this and was hoping it was something that could be programed into it. With the cost you would think it would have all the bells and whistles?
My 2000 X limited PSD has the auto door locks. Are we talking about the same thing? When I turn the key and wait for the "wait to start" light to go off, the doors will lock before I even start the engine. I have asked on other forums (ford-trucks.com)about turning this off. Somewhere there is the procedure. I tried to disable mine but it did not work. I am getting used to them now locking automatically. It would be a big deal if I did not have the keyless entry. Sometimes I forget and get out and the lock me out.
