transfer case woe's
Howdy ya'll! I have a 05 F250 CC, long bed, SRW, 4X4 in XLT trim w/6.0 5spd auto., with manual hubs and manual transfer case shifter. The truck will be two weeks old this coming wed. I have 1180 miles on it. My problem is in this recent snow and ice the transfer case shifter keeps jumping back to two wheel drive. It shifts very smoothly but won't stay in. I'll be taking it back to the dealer in the morning. I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem and if so what was the fix? Build date is Nov. 29,04

Fordman,,There is definately something wrong with it, either some adjustment, or something in the transfer case is bad. I have an 04' F-350 V-10, 6-speed with man hubs and man transfer case shifter, it shifts easy and stays in 4x4, never a problem with it, almost 14k miles now and I plow with it also. Have it looked at for sure.

I'm pretty sure it's just out of adjustment. Every truck i've ever had (All Fords) had manual transfer and hubs. This is the first one to give trouble. I've got plenty of warranty left. I'm heading for the dealer right now. Thanks for the reply.

The dealers mechanic told me there was a problem with the bushings in the linkage so he told me he ordered a whole new shifter. Sounds like B.S. to me. In my opinion you don't order a whole shifter because of a bushing. Sounds to me like there was a part missing off the shifter which comes as a whole assembly. I'll know in three or four days when I take it back in. I still love my truck!!
