I have had my Jacobs unit for 5 years, I can't attest to how they are now. However, I am happy with the unit I had purchased and hope that the new ones are of equal or better quality.

Darn, I was hoping you had one of the newer ones, I have one of the older ones too on my boat and I'm happy as a clam with that one. I tried calling them about six months ago and they had been bought out by one of the major aftermarket manufacturers, although I cant recall which one it was right now. They (the new company) had dropped alot of the other items that Jacobs had carried before, so I was concerned as to the manufacturing being carried out with the same attention to quality that Jacobs had maintained in the past.

I am sorry to hear that they were bought out. I am kind of upset about it myself. I have a boat that needs an engine, and I was thinking about using a Jacobs ignition for it also, but I guess I will wait and see.

The Jacobs on my boat helped out a condition at high altittudes. I'm pretty happy with it. Its always a pity when a big company buys out the little guy just to get rid of the compitition and not nessasarily contine on with the same quality products (if thats the case here).

For sure. I hope that quality is still a priority.

Forced induction and the bottle are both huge power adders but....if you dont have a fairly new engine in good shape, it wont last long with either of these modifications.

msd/ others

Well, I haven't tried dragging one behind the truck yet ( an MSD or6 box that is), but the two I've had, and ALL that I know of, except I guess yours, have died with fewer than 20K miles as a daily driver. As for the heads bottle necking the intake/ T-body, perhaps, but it was still a strong improvement. In fact, I know I've picked up at least the same power gains as when I first put on the long tubes + duals. The idea is not to freely blow a pile of air through them in a truck anyhow, or you lose bottom end torque, like if you over port. As was the case with the cleveland 4V heads( the trucks all came with 2Vs). As for the smog pump, I'm lookig into gearing/pulley enhancements. Too much to list here now, but when it's done, (or dead in the water!) I'll post it here.
