i just got a flex-a-lite fan for christmas for my 99 3.0l 4x4 w/ac, was wondering if there is anything i need to know before i start tearing into this project. Any faqs or walk throughs for this project? The directions are very generic and i don't have much experience with running wires like this.
Hey bud, sorry I can't help but I'm interested in knowing wether or not that's going to help you out with noticeable horsepower.
Please let me know cause I'm considering that mod myself. Should be a bolt in though, from what I understand. A little wiring and adjustments for temperature control, but let me know if you can.
I'm hoping for some noticable power/gas millage improvements. I'll let you know if theres anything good. I just got a diablo chip and i have to run premium so i'm hoping for gas milage improvemnts.
I haven't done the mod yet, but I intend to. I don't really think it will be that difficult. Should be basically a bolt on type thing. You obviously will have to supply the fan with power and also install a switch of some kind to turn it on and off. I would think that everything you need would be in the kit that comes with the Flex-a-lite fan. My only advice would be to look over the directions and look over the engine compartment and kind of visualize how the install is supposed to go and then go for it. Most people who have talked about installing one of these said they were fairly easy to install. I can't give ya' directions, but I can give ya' a pep talk!
Diablo chip isn't working and i think i'm just going to take it to a shop and have them install the fan, that way i don't have to deal with it. Thanks for the pep talk though, lol.
And i'm probably sending the chip back, because we've called motorhaven three times and this Eric that is supposed to know about them still hasn't called us back.
The problem is your PCM is missing a jumper. A small number of 1998-2000 vehicles have a missing jumper from the factory and it causes the theft light to blink when trying to crank. This is covered on the trouble-shooting page you received with the chip. As I told your mother yesterday when she called for you, Eric will be calling back. Please realize that immediately after Christmas is the busiest time of year for retailers, phones and customer service. Everyone who calls wants to be first in line, but everyone has to wait in the order we received calls. MotorHaven is getting 50-60 calls per day right now with questions about products bought, tracking numbers, etc. Unfortunately, our experience is that people show less patience this time of year, the opposite of what you expect for holiday spirt. Eric is basically going to tell you to send the PCM to Diablo's warehouse, PDQ Performance and they will install the jumper for free (they'll charge shipping). Or you can go to www.pdqperformance.com for pictures to install it yourself.
I understand that you're very busy this time of year, but we were told that he'd be calling us the day we called twice with no response so you know, i was waiting for this guy to call and got nothing. But, thanks for the response. I'll give the finger nail polish remover a shot tomorrow, and if that that doesn't work i'll have to get the jumper soldered.
Also, on the troubleshooting sheet there is a list of computer codes and my code is not on there, is it still possible for my computer to be one of the ones that requires jumpers?
And if i get the soldering done from diablo will they cover the cost of the computer if they screw something up on it?
Thanks,
Paul
