My Explorer's problems vs Ford
in many cases the item is being repaired gets its warranty extended if it is not repaired...
once something is started under warranty, in many cases, then if you take it back out of warranty they still have to fix it.
Also see NOW about extending your warranty
Second - And this one works - send a registered, signed receipt letter to Ford. There is a Ford District representative that covers your area. Ask the Ford dealership owner who it is and get their name and number. If you have a problem, here is a number that I called at Ford - 313-446-9055. The mans name is Adam Spencer. Now Adam may not be there any longer, (I had my problems back in 1994-95 with my new 93) So ask for someone who represents the dealer in your state. When you talk to a Ford representative explain your situation to that individual and - this is really important - ask him for the name and address of the Vice President & General Manger of Ford Customer Service. That persons address should be:
Ford Customer Service
Ford Motor Company
300 South Renaissance Drive
Detriot Michigan, 48243
If you do not feel that this representative is helping, send a detailed letter to ford.
Your letter should detail everything as you have outlined above and include copies of all invioces that you have. It is important to put everything in date order. Also tell them that you have not received any detailed invioces from the last several visits.
I will tell you this much, it will be very time consuming and take a lot of follow up on your part, but if you stay on top of them you will hopefully get some satisfaction for your problems. The best thing would be for the dealer/Ford to fully reimburse you. Also - as a side note - know what you want to get out of all of this before you start. Ford and or the dealer will probably ask you what you are looking for them to do to satisfy your problem.
This is extremley critical - every time you talk to anyone at the dealer or Ford -get their name and document your conversations.
Good luck and let us know if you have problems.
I forgot to update yall, they finally fixed our Explorer!!!
They had it for a total of 14 days this last time, they tightened the transmission crossmember, several loose items under the car, they Gave me 2 new front shocks, and they changed the complete brake setup in the front, while working on the right side the had noticed a stainless steel clip that was gone, so after replacing the entire front suspention they came to the conclusion that the little clip was making the brake pop! Oh well I got to test drive about 4 Tuarus, a Hundai, a Kia and a Focus out of the whole situation, and got a lot of new equipment, at least I wont worry as much any more. Does anybody know anything about this so called clip??
