I have a 2002 V6 the accelerator is very stiff when the weather is cool? I know that sounds strange. I took it back to the Dealer they said it was normal. I don't like it, but it could be problem for others in my family.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Oct-02 AT 10:59 PM (EST)]Yes! i'm not alone! I have a 2001 XLT and i've had problems with the accelerator sticking for quite a few months now. Dealer said it was a computer problem and has tried a total of 3 "fixes" for the problem to no avail. Now that there's snow on the ground and roads are slippery its a major safety issue as when i'm stopped at a red light i have to give the gas a good push to unstick it...then my tires spin. The other day i almost put myself through the back of my garage just trying to move up a few inches I've dealt with my dealer amicably trying to get this problem solved but my patience has run out!

I have the same problem with my 2003 V6 XLT. The dealer has replaced the throttle body 3 time with no positive result. This week they replaced the accelerator cable. It seems to be OK now. We'll see. This is definately a safety issue.
I've had the problem with several vehicles, and the fix for mine was cleaning the inside of the throttle body where the butterfly opens and closes. Be sure that you use a throttle body cleaner that is safe on coated throttle bodies. Gunk seems to build up around the surfaces over time. This fix works for me hope you have the same luck...
