The more I read, well, you know the rest. Can the ebpv used as a brake mod and the TC lockup mod be used at the same time? Or, would it be better to get rid of the ebp valve and just go with the TC lockup mod for better performance? Seems like the more I read, the more I get confused. What is the best combination as far as towing and braking down steep grades? Thanks
Hopefully I can clear the confusion for you, yes you want to use both mod’s in conjunction with each other. The reason being is when you want to slow down you can lock the TC and have a one to one ratio from the engine out the tranny making it act like a manual tranny and when you use the EBPV as a engine brake you will get the most benefit.
Most people remove it because of the power that it robs from the truck when it closes when it is cold. Some also say that it improves the exhaust flow in turn reducing your egt’s.
The people that remove the EBPV are after the HORSEPOWER and cooler exhaust temps. which I need to do this mod one of these days.
by removing the EBPV you open up your exhaust. that thing creates a flow restriction, removing it removes the restriction, resulting in better exhaust flow, for cooler exhaust temps, this helps alot for modified trucks, I realy dont think it would help much on a truck without a chip. some say that the truck takes longer to warm up, but I haven't noticed a difference since I unhooked mine.
