throttle body spacers?

throttle body spacers?
I havnt done much research into them, well i just found out about them. I know they make the air mixture spin, making it faster or more efficent or something..can you tell me anything about them? do they actually work, and are worth the price? Im looking to help my gas mileage, while getting a little more power. If anyones had any experiences with them, let me know. thanks

my buddy dave bought one a year or so ago, it was 70$ bucks, but, what they do is vortec the air going threw the intake manifold, alowing more air through, (like water going down the drain) Anyway he got a little more horsepower on the highway, enough to beat a crown vic, and a little bit of gas milage,(something like 1.5 mpg) but like mustang70 said unless there cheap dont bother, and by the way this was a 94 f150, 302.
