88 bronco driveability

Recently changed thermostat, water pump, and adjusted timing. The timing was way off, around 25 degrees BTDC I used a timing light and set to around 10 BDTC it idles a lot better but now has no power. Does anyone have a clue?

Pull your codes! See www.fordfuelinjection.com. If someone set timing up that far it should have been a little sluggish to start when hot and they were compensating for a lack of computer adjusted timing, perhaps. How did you check your timing?

Before I adjusted the timing the initial idle when cold was 2000-2500 rpms that is why I adjusted timing. When I adjusted the timing I did remove the spout connector before adjusting and then reinstalled afterwards. One person said it could be the TPS, but I dont think this would all of a sudden be effected by adjusting the timing.

If it was the TPS it may have coincidently failed. In adjusting the timing you have changed the way your computer looks at things. This would be a good time to reset the computer.

Initially disconnect your negative battery terminal and let it sit for about 5 minutes. This is actually a great time to clean both terminals/clamps by the way. Re attach and start engine. Pull any codes from the CEL (check engine light) but all should be cleared. Check www.fordfuelinjection.com.
