mount stands

I am currently changing out a V8 302 engine in a 1997 F150. The truck originally came with a 4.2 V6. A freind dropped the truck at my home shop & said it needed an engine replacement. He failed to tell me the previous owner performed the abortion of this now deamed morphadite. I am only attempting this surgery for the challenge. I have changed out the engine but, in doig so I have many many emotional scars as result. 1st thing was the problem of getting to know Fords. I originally reinstalled the engine as thing came to me figuring it was running I could at least eliminate the rapping & knocking. It came here with a fuel injected car engine. With me not knowing this was the wrong intake & plenum. I got it running but a fuel injector was stuck open putting 2 to 3 quarts of fuel in crank case. At that time we decided to change the induction back to truck type. This created the problem of separating the harness out & repairing what previous OBGYN did. After installing intake, fuel rail & repaired harness I atempted to install plenum which leads me to my current problem. The plenum will not go under fire wall as it hits. Looking at the motor mounts I notice they modified an adapter between the 5.0 mounts & 97 F150 frame stands. Removal of these adapters will get me 3 inches. This will be enough. I have learned that 97 F150 came with a 4.6litre. These blocks must have different castings as I cant bolt 4.6 mounts to this 5.0.

Any ideas
