Merry Xmas all! Mine started off with a tow to the Ford Dealership. My 1996 F250 TDSL stalled on me and would not start. I ran a diagnostic with my Supertuner and had not DTC's. I was baffled, so I had the truck towed to a Ford dealer. They got it started and then took it for a test drive. While on the test drive the mechanic called in to the Service Rep. and siad it had stalled again and asked how to switch my AUX gas tank over. That seemed to work and they drove the truck into the back of the shop. I told them that maybe my gas gauge was not working and I merely ran out of gas. They said they was not sure if that was the problems and wanted to run some more tests. (at this point I am feeling really stupid for not checking my gas tanks). An hour later they came out and said it was my fuel injector pump and would cost $745. $300 for the part and $450 to install it. Ouch!!!! I try to be a trusting person of people in business (especially on Xmas Eve). They would not lie to me....would they???? If anyone has any experience with this part, I would appreciate it.
usually when a hpop is failing you loose top end power and it throws icp codes. and 450 to put it in??? should only take 2 hours ......random stalling still leads to cps
oh yeah and a truck with a bad hpop has a really hard time with hot starts also. or random stall and restart could be a valve cover harness thats burned up

Maybe they are talking about the mechanical fuel pump? If that is the case I just put one in my dad’s truck and it was only $105.00 from the dealer and I agree with the rest of the posts that it sounds like the CPS.
Hi Everyone. Thank you for your replies. I did not have Ford do the work. It was way to much money. I apologize for the poor description of the part which they said needed to be replaced, it was an injector pressure regulator. ??? They said it was an electro-mechanical part and when they ran their diagnostic it was reading only 51%.
The funny thing is the truck seems to be running just fine and the AUX tank was empty. I know this sounds really dumb, but I think I just ran out of gas!! It is running on the main tank and I do not see any problems.......yet?? Maybe if I replace the IPR the truck will run more effiently???
I am going to see how much this part is and if I can't put it in myself. Cheers
