My wife gave me a Mr. Clean AutoDry carwash kit from Targets for Christmas. I have always washed my truck with a bucket, good quality car wash, sponge and chamois cloth. Lot of work and the wife is trying to help me out. What are your opinions on the Mr. Clean car wash kit? Anyone use it and what are your thoughts.
IMO, it works pretty good. the last time I used it, I didn't have any soap for it. So I just washed my truck with a bucket 'O soapy water and just used the Mr. Clean to rinse the truck down.
Will post back as soon as the weather clears out this week in Tampa. Had a strong wind come in off the Gulf in the middle of the night and knocked out power to over 20,000 homes and left a mess to all the holiday decorations. Temperature is in the low 40's right now, so us Florida boys have to wait until it warms up a little to do anything outside. Finally got our electric back, so the heater is on and warming up the house. With the weather up north, the airline problems, this has been an unusual few days. Appreciate the replys, but would be interested in hearing from some others. Happy Holidays
I'm in Tampa as well!
I had my clean [black]01 F350 CC 4x4 LWB 7.3 PSD
parked under a tree oblivious to the impending
storms.
The truck is new to me as of Christmas eve
and I hadn't had a chance to give it the inaugral washing.
I bought and used the Mr Clean for the first wash yesterday.
I did it on my lunch hour and was able to run to the parts
store to buy it and get the truck washed at my sister in laws
house in under an hour.
You just have to make sure you spray the spot-free rinse
on 100% of the truck or the regular rinse water will spot.
Its under 20 bucks. Easily worth it. It works as advertised!
I've used it for almost a year now, and am very satisfied with the results.
The soap does a good job of removing all the accumulated crap. I start at the highest point and do small sections at a time (roof/windshield/back windows) using a wash mitt, then rinse it off with full spray and finish rinsing using the deionized water. It comes out in a V-pattern, so I use the same motions as if it were a paint sprayer...you can see the difference as the deionized water displaces the regular rinse water. Then I'll move to the hood/front end and repeat, and keep going around the whole truck, making sure each section is thoroughly rinsed. Works good. After she's all air-dried out, I'll do the windows and other stuff.
Nothing works good in direct summer sun, of course, so I wait until later in the day to wash 'er. All in all, it's a good product.
Here is a thread on this topic from a few months ago. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...+CLEAN+CARWASH
I think the general concensus was that it works well, as long as you keep buying the soap and filters, and it ends up costing about 1-2 dollars per wash, which is still much better than at the carwash. Regular car wash soap doesn't seem to work well at all in it.
