Welp one problem after the next. Went home for christmas and yesterday went out with my brother to do some coyote hunting. so we were driving through the snow him in his 95 chevy and me in my 77. He kept havin to pop it into 4x4 to get everywhere i was going so i always making fun of him for owning a chevy. Well we got apon a tailwater pit that always has coyotes in it so i drove down to get them out. well i guess i made fun of him too soon cuz when i put it into 4x4 to get back out without tearing up the ground my truck wouldnt go into 4x4. the t/c stick just moved back and forth w/o doing anything. So I had to gun it to make it out and we decided to call it a day. Today was nice so i began to work on my truck. Pulled the shifter boot off to see what was wrong and seen that my cotter pin came off and the linkage was just flopping around. Then I looked closer and seen my front driveshaft was just sitting there out of the t/c. so I got under and seen that my output shaft nut was gone and had stripped the threads.
so my question is
what is the nut size/pitch so i can get a die in there and retap the threads and also get a new nut. My dial calipers are too big to get in there and measure the thread diameter and cant seem to find my pitch gauges.
and to top it off I have to be back in manhattan sunday night to be back to work so if anyone can help me out asap it be much appreciated
thanks all
dick
Actually im needing the transfer case front output shaft thread size/pitch. The nut that holds the frnt driveshaft into the transfer case got stripped off somehow so i need a new nut and to retap the threads but i dont know the size of the shaft.
thanks
dick
