Does any one have any suggestions on how to drive out two front spring shackles thru the frame without screwing up the threads or flattening the end of the bolt's face? I am trying to get a stubborn pair of front shackles out of my 49 F-1 frame. Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure I removed my front and rear a while back on my 50 F1 and it all came out easily, but, you might try using a brass or aluminum rod as a punch because it is softer then the metal you are saving and a lot of penetrating oil a day or so before the next try and a few gentle taps all day to help the penetrating oil do its job. Ed ke6bnl I spent about a week doing this on the door lock passenger side tumbler small hold down bolt till it move and worked out.
I replaced the rear springs on my 56. Your setup may be different. I don't recall any threads except for the cross pin that locked the shackle pin in place. I drove out the cross pin by setting the nut at the thread end covering the end of the pin and pounded on that. Came right out.
Another member shared how he pushed the shackle pin out using a drift punch thru the frame and an air hammer. Worked great. I didn't think of that and spent two weeks off and on doing it using a much less efficient method, which I'll spare you.
Soak it in penetrating oil for a while first.
Good luck.
Those pins are most likley worn half in two, need to wiggle them around as you pound them out. Once the ridges get past the worn spot they'll come out ok.
