My '04 FX4 came equipped with reverse sensors that yesterday started to give me a minor problem. After a warm-up in the freezing snowy weather I put the truck in reverse and the sensor warning tone sounded; not the beep beep tone but the steady tone. Figuring it was snow and/or ice I cleaned off the sensors, and the steady tone remained. Cleaned the sensors again, same result. I know I can turn off the sensors, but they sure come in handy at times. Any ideas?
Welcome to the club. Mine do the same time when there is a lot of salted slush buildup behind both rear wheels. With no inner fender all that crap gets thrown directly at the sensors and their connectors. Thaw that crap out and all will return to normal. Very poor design on Fords part. If you come up with a solutoion from a dealer please let me know. I tried making a shield but it still gets packed in there.
I had that problem a couple of times. The first time, I simply wiped the snow off and they were fine. The second time, it took a couple tries before they were clean enough to stop. Looked perfectly clean to me the first time but taking a couple more wipes at them did the trick.
That sound scares the life out of you, doesn't it?
wish I got them, back into a tree, nice dent in the bumper. went to the parts department to price a new bumper, they asked if I had them, I said if I did I wouldn't be here.
