The Castrano leather is very good and durable. If they are fading, you need to fully condition them with your favorite leather conditioner, something like saddle soap or the product on the KR web site.
They gain "characture"(sp?) with age, spills, and coinditioning. The only real concern you should have is letting them dry out, fade, and crack.
In fact if you lay on the conditioner they will darken, get softer, and eventually have the feel of a good worn leather coat. Take care, and enjoy one of the better intetrior ideas Ford ever had!
I have a 2004 King Ranch and the front seats are already fading. Any help on this or has any one else seen this on their truck?
Thanks,
keith

I have conditioned the leather 5 times in the 1 year now that I ahve had the truck. when you pout the conditioner on, it no longer turns the leather dark like it used to when it was brand new. When brand new, if water got on the seat, it immediately turned that spot dark dark brown and when it dried the normal color returned. It no longer does this. The center counsel for instance is now a tan color and even if water sits on the leather, it remains the same tan color. ?????
I have had the King Ranch Castrano leather in two trucks now and did not ever notice any fading. Here in Central Texas we get more direct sun than most folks. I don't add tint to my windows other than what the factory windows already have.
I use the KR product that came with the truck and I get refills from the KR web site.
Two or three times a year I use saddle soap and a damp sponge on all the surfaces that "wear" or get soiled, not the whole seat back or sides.
Another three or four times a year when I do a "total cleaning" I put all the different "protectants" on everything. This is when the KR conditioner is used.
Basically my seats get some sort of care about once a month.
If you don't use saddle soap as your cleaning step get a small can and try it out on that center console piece and see if it helps. Then read up on your brand of conditioner and see if it has UV protectants.
Thanks so much for your assistance so far. You have referred to the "KR" conditioner that came with the truck and the website??? Can you be more specific as I really do not know what you are referring to. Once again, thanks for your help. Keith

Was i susposed to get leather conditioner when i got my King Ranch?
My 05 F-350 CC FX4 LWB King Ranch did not come with any leather conditioner.
I went to the King Ranch Saddle Shop website and immediately ordered several bottles and my package came promptly.
There may be other conditioners that work just as well and for that matter I have a number of saddle soaps, cleaners and conditioners for my saddle and other leather items...but I wanted to start out with a product that is called for by the leather company that made my seats, so that's that.
