Quick question, I have been using diesel kleen regularly and there was a 1/4 tank of fuel in both tanks on my truck and i just filled both up and I want to put in this Howes additive i just bought (mainly for the antigel) will it be ok to put it in there for how many gallons i added just now? It won't hurt to have it and the little bit of diesel kleen at the same time will it? Thanks
I'm not a chemist, but I wouldn't expect for there to be any problem mixing the two additives in the small quantities you're talking about. They're probably quite similar, really, so I wouldn't hesitate if it were my truck.
No reason, I was at walmart and they jacked the prices up too much so i just went to a truck stop and bought howes instead. Been working fine, dont see any difference from when i was using diesel kleen, they both say they raise centen i believe. i'll double check what the howes says.
KC,
I just bought a 96 oz. bottle of diesel kleen at Tractor Supply for $9.99. They stock both types White bottle and Grey bottle. Cheapest I've found! Of course if you don't have a Tractor Supply close I guess this won't do you much good!
Has anyone used Lucas fuel additive? The bottle says it can be used for diesel engines. I've used it in my gas vehicles and it is an awesome product, just wondering if it is as good in the diesels.
I'll check out tractor supply tomorrow, it used to be 9.57 i believe at walmart here and now its 18.99. I still have a half bottle of the silver bottle, i'll start using it when i find it cheap again.
Are additives REALLY needed for anti-gelling? My uncle has driven diesels for many many years and says he never puts any sort of additive in. The winter low temps get down to maybe 10 below here. I keep my truck inside at night. I know the fuel stations start putting their own additive in the diesel in the fall. I know there are other advantages to using additives so I am not questioning those benefits, just whether the anti-gelling is really needed. Has anybody ever had a tank gel up on them?
