Well, I start my holidays off with a dead truck when trying to go to work! I have a 2003 F250 Superduty 6.0L disiel crewcab truck that a bought with 5K miles on it. No problems untill a few weeks ago when it rained I noticed a puddle below the steering column and when I opened the panel and the fuse panel water dripped down. Brought it to the delership and they plugged the leak but now whenever it rains, a small leak occurs and when I take the key out, the following happens:
-The truck begins to "ding" like the key was still in the ignition (when its not)
-The interior lights would come back on
-All of the lights and radio would turn on just like if you would turn the key into the "on" position and stay that way
-You cannot lock the doors by the button on the door panel, it automaticlly opens the drivers side door like the key was still in the igition (when its not)
-Stays on most of the time, but if it dose'nt it just flickers on and off
I know the water is messing up something in the fuse panel, but I pulled the instrument panel fuse overnight to elimate the amp drwaing from the battery and the truck was dead in the morning. But what is getting messed up in the fuses or relays so I know what I am talking about when I go to the delearship? Is it the whole fuse panel that needs to be replaced? Somebody help!

And regarding the water and electrical system - hopefully the truck still had a warranty on it when you purchased it and this problem can be covered by that.
Water and electrical don't mix well at all. It might be as simple as waiting for the water to all dry out, but sometimes once a short circuit path has been established with the help of the water, you can get some heat which melts the insulation and can lead to a more serious short. If that happens, even when the truck gets all dried out it might still not work right.
What is really scary is that if you get a good short going across the wrong wires on the unfused side of the fuse panel you can get a really high current flow going that could lead to a fire.
Even if the warranty has expired, this leak condition may be something that you can still get covered if it appears that it may have been there from the factory and not something that occured down the road after delivery.
Yeah, its still under warranty when I bought it as well as an extended warranty. It stops when everything dries out, but then every time it rains, does the same thing, and the fire thing is what I am worrited about as well as the battery dying because everything remains on all the time. Do you think they need to replace everything in the fuse panel or just something else inside? I want to know what to ask for at the dealership, even though they are'nt going to listen to me anyways, it still leaks even though they claim it is fixed.
I'd try to get a video of what it is doing and any other evidence that you can use to show that the problem isn't completely fixed.
I would also work on trying to get some for of limited lifetime warranty on that particular problem. May not be possible but I was able to get Toyota to do that for my wife on her 4-Runner when they botched some service.
Or take it to the dealer and insist on borrowing their pressure washer and make a little "rain" on your truck and show them first hand what it does. Hope you get it fixed and quick, like Daryl said, water and electricity is a bad combo.
A leak on the drivers side isn't that uncommon.. Water runs into the fuse panel, shorting the connections and will even 'green' the connections/bars re-routing current or grounding.. We had one (2001) that leaked and would sit in the parking lot 'cranking' the engine (good thing it was an auto) with no one around, dome light on at any given time with the radio light cycling on and off or just on dim.. We nick named her CHRISTINE like the movie.. To bad it would pop it's own dents out!! We pulled the F/panel and blew it dry, (some need to be replaced) with a new shield install.. Was time anyway.. We've had some of our field trucks 'break' the factory sealer loose from the bedding when the chassis/cab racks and twists over the severe environments.. And the sealer bead 'can' be pretty narrow at times making the chance of a leak at some point worse..

HP that helps out a lot, with the exception of the engine cranking, its doing everything that you just said in your post! Its leaking right above the fuse panel, they said it weas running down the drivers sdie door weatherstripping. The stuff was on all the time and killed the battery to a point where I need it towed back to the dealer, THANK GOD FOR ROADSIDE ASSISSTANCE!! Thanks!
