I would disagree. I was left stranded with my 2003 6.0L and had to WALK home. Now I do not call that "built ford tough". Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my truck in general, best truck I ever owned. Now if my diesel engine actually was dependable, I would be much more happy than I am now. My old 7.3L never caused me one problem, and I've had it for 56,000 miles when I sold her. I talked with the new owner of my old truck just last week, and his truck is doing better than mine. It had not been in the dealer since he's owned it for any engine problems. I agree with Outpost. I spent almost $50 large ones on this rig, the least I expect it to do is actually start when I need it.

The Tow/Haul feature was not lost after any of the flashes. The Oct '03 and/or Dec '03 flash did change the operation of the feature a bit in that the TC no longer stays locked in 5th gear or OD when you let off the throttle and the truck coasts now. Some folks like it this way and some don't. I think that I get better fuel mileage now, but it does require a tap on the brake to lock up the TC and a second tap to engage the tranny brake.

I've had next to no problems with my 6.0. I did have to take it in for an oil leak but it turned out to be something other than the rear main seal.

Very happy with the 6.0 and my Father inlaw who has an '02 7.3 L F-250 feels that my 6.0 far and away out pulls his 7.3. And that was without the SCMT tuner installed

So, when people buy a truck with certain advertised features, and then those features are programmed OUT of the truck or changed dramatically AFTER they buy it, is a very poor way to do business IMHO. There are several guys on the "other" board who have complained about the "loss" of the Tow/Haul feature that they expected the truck to maintain, along with the pilot injection which kept their trucks quiet. This is inexcusable. Thats almost like saying: "Buy this 350 HP truck, and then saying "well, we have to detune it to 225 HP because of problems we're having. It just makes Fords competitors look better.

Your stock 6.0 should outpull a stock 7.3. However a Banks 7.3 will run pretty darn well with one, and if you put tuners, etc. on a 6.0, good luck with you're warranty coverage which I'm afraid you may need more than you think. I do hope you got a good one. Nobody deserves what has happened to too many of them.

I have three friends with 6.0's and 2 with 7.3's. Two of the 6.0's have had only marginal problems, and the third ended up as a buy-back. 66% isn't very good. The two 7.3's (one of which is full Banks) have been flawless since 2000.
