Never Been "Flashed"

Well I may be the last one in the country (Just kidding).I have a April 2003, F-250 and have never had it flashed. It runs ok but now I'm experienceing a rough idle and smoke, after the engine has been turned off for about 20-30 mins.The milage has been around 18 on the highway and much worse in town.
THIS IS MY QUESTION!!!!

I haven't been keeping up with the flash reports on this site or any other-so what seems to be the norme (If any) with the latest changes and are you guys having good luck with them?

I have the Oct 03 flash. I did not lose any mpg and the truck runs great.
It is a touch louder at idle than before the flash. I have no romps. no hesitation, no surges.

My old 1/03 before traded, had all the flashes to the Oct/03 flash..
It always ran very well.. Actually quieter than the 05 'both' at idle and at cruise speeds.. No cold start or smoke issues.. Mileage was around 14-17 combined and never seemed to change during the updates.. Was an 03, SC, FX 4x4 SB...
