My truck set for three years in a garage and the battery went dead..It a F250 4x4 94 .Every thing works but my speedometer .I check the fuse it ok the mileage comes up but it don't change when driving it.I check the sensor on the rear end and it is hook up. I pull it out of the rear end it looks clean.I Check the recalibration test it reads ok and is set for my tire sizes.I check the wiring from the rearend to the cab it looks ok.
Welcome to FTE!
Go back to the sensor in the rear axle and/or it's wiring. I'd be willing to bet that's the problem. After sitting in the garage for 3 years, it is possible that some vermin may have chewed on the wiring. It certainly would not be the first time that's happened!
AL.
Pull the codes out of the computer and see what it says. If it doesn't see the signal from the speed sensor in the rear, it should give you a code for it.
Check your sensor ohm reading, remove it and set your ohm meter at 20-K/ohm scale then measure resistance between sensor terminals if you do not get 900-2500 ohms get a new one.
