Got someone who knows more about these things than I do and he checked with the old plug. He said thats its in there all the way and its never stripped. I thought it was,he said it wasn't. But I'm thinking of doing a engine rebuild. Can it be done without taking the block out of the truck? This engine is not used hard so I doubt theres any cracks,etc... in the cylinder walls. The engine is original and has 194,000+ miles,do you all think its due?

When you say engine rebuild with the engine in the truck theres no way to do machine work with it in there. A total overhaul with the block in the truck, no. With 194k there still some life left in a 300 at that point, just depends on how it runs.

I wouldn't be concerned about oil on the side of the block, probably the valve and/or pushrod cover gasket needing a replacement or even just the bolts tightened. Mine loosen off every 6 months.
