Stalling out problem
Only my 2nd post and I haven't had any luck in the search mode on this subject...
Recently (last September) bought an 01 F250 SD w/7.3 Powerstroke, yesterday it started acting up while going down the road, under acceleration it was just like shutting the key off, it keeps going on it's own after a second or two, then it would be cutting in and out real spuratically (faster than you turn the key on and off) and then runs fine again. The service engine soon light comes on as soon as this happens, when you shut it off and restart it the light does not come on again until this problem happens again. I ran quite a few miles today with no problems until I let it set for about two hours after being warm. The water in fuel light does not come on when this happens, I changed the oil and filters about 400 miles ago, it has just over 41,000 miles on it and the previous tank of fuel I added some Power Service additive to it, the reccomended amount.
The tach is the only gauge that drops when this happens so I know it's not a power problem through the ignition, any ideas?? No hard start problems at all, however, since I put the Power Service in it, it does tend to labor a bit on a cold start when the ambient temp is below 25. This may have been the case beforehand, I haven't owned it long enough to be sure. Don't remember if if the temp got that low before I put this in. Sounds like a loose connection somewhere to me, but just thought I would ask here first to see if anyone else has had a problem similar to this before I spend the $100 at the dealership.
Never fails that something like this would happen around the holidays when all the shops will close early tomorow and we are supposed to get about 8" of snow tonight.

Edit: I hope this link works, it's a locator for International truck dealers where you can go in to get the CMP sensor.
