Brake pads

Gonna change the front brake pads next Monday (if it gets a little warmer in the garage by then!). Should I go with ceramic or metallic pads? Any tricks to observe when doing this? It is a 2wd.

The job is a breeze, basic disc brakes, just make sure you get new slippers with the pads.

Thanks Ken, I'll check the pads to be sure the slippers come with. I plan to have the rotors turned and will probably go with ceramic pads.

Well I just finished my front brake pad replacement. Ken was right it is a very simple and straight forward brake job. Took about 2 1/4 hours (not counting the hour I had to wait as the rotors were turned) and most of that was in cleaning parts.

Not trying to be funny, but is that the technical term for the slider pins? Or am I not understanding what you are talking about. I only ask, because I canged my pads over the summer, and I don't remember anything called a slipper?

I believe that Ken is referring to the metal shims that go on the back side of the pads. Many pads come with the "slippers" or shims already mounted.

I'm not talking about the anti-rattle clips, the pads kind of ride on the slippers. Your 88 won't have them G.

Ahhh I see. The only strange thing that came in my Bendix box was some metal plates that had a sticky side. They were supposed to be stuck to the back of the pads. I don't know what they are for, but I put them in there.
