This isnt about fords or trucks but i figured itd be okay because it could happen to a ford truck. If any1 got a problem with it i'll remove it but anyways here it is; my sisters '01 nissan altima been acting wierd. The idle has been about 400 r.p.m. below normal, you can feel the low idle when you're in the car. And today she was turning a corner and then went to accelerate and the engine just reved like it wasn't in gear n then it poped into gear and had the same effect as dropping the clutch on an manual transmission, and it was raining, it was close but no wreck. This is a automatic so and she said the didnt hit the gas hard. It's an inline 4cyl i think. Got 65k miles, a lot for its age. Any help would be great. I was gunna check the ICA today and see if thats the idle problem. I'm not really sure if these are seperate problems or not.
I'm thinking that someone who actually knows nissans is going to have to check it out, never worked on an inline 4cyl or nissan. IAC nowhere to be found. By the way checked all fluids (including tranmission fluid while it was warm), and all seems to be good. There was some pretty good build-up on the neg terminal off the battery, cleaned that off, but that shouldnt have caused any of this.
My suggestions were going to be to check the IAC and the transmission fluid level.
So much for that idea.
About the only Nissans I've worked on in a long time are Villager vans and I HATE them.
lol
