The owners manual says the transfer case holds about 2 quarts of fluid. When I replaced the fluid in the transfer case for the first time, about a quart came out when I removed the FILL screw. The remaining two quarts were then drained when I removed the drain screw. So, my question is, is this normal to have the transfer case filled above the fill screw from the factory? Do I need to park nose down on a steep hill to add additional fluid to get the level up to factory standards ?
Anybody else have this same experience?

Sometimes the transfer cases are "bench filled"... which means fluid was put in while the TC was lying on a bench. It's easy to over-fill them in that position. Being over-filled in this manner isn't common, but it's also not un-heard of.
However, you should definitely keep an eye on the transmission fluid level as hkiefus suggests.
I did not notice a significant change in the transmission fluid level. However I changed them both at the same time and I didn't pay particular attention to the level when I checked it prior to draining the transmission. I will keep an I on it now. Thanks for the info.
