I just got off the phone with Anita at Navteq requesting a replacement set of Mapping CD's for the mislabeled set that came with my 2004 EB. Navteq openly admitted that CD's 8 and 9 are misslabeled and that North and South Carolina are not on CD 9, but are on CD 8. She also said there was a piece of paper included with the Mapping CD's that stated this defect. I told Anita that I broke the packing seal on the CD's and there was no defect notice. I also didn't appreciate not having any mapping detail when traveling in North Carolina from CD 9 due to the labeling error. I also found out that anyone who spends $199 for the set of 10, 2004 Mapping CD's will receice an accurately labeled set of CD's.
Anita at Navteq stated they will not replace the mislabeled CD's since the mapping information on the set of CD's is current and has no other defects or updates. How stupid of Navteq. A couple dollars worth of corrected CD's could mean more purchases of updated Mapping CD's when they come out.
Since I work for a Major Computer Company, we know it to be very worth while to eat the cost to send out 2 correctely labled CD's and gain the satifaction of our customers. Navteq just doesn't get it. They have their own version of "Customer No Service".
I was just to ticked off to ask Navteq why they require 9 CD's when other Automotive Navigation Systems require 1 to 4 CD's. I guess they haven't heard of data compression.
