Replacing Broken Shift ****

I have a 1992 Eddie Bauer Bronco with the E4OD transmission. My shift **** with the overdrive off button and light broke off when I grabbed the handle. Can I fix this or is it permanently broke?

It's actually a pretty easy fix. You need to order a new gear selector lever from either a Ford dealer, or online at Broncograveyard.com or genuinefordparts.com. On my 95, I had to order a new endcap that fits over the OD button too, becasue the old one didn't want to lock down on the new lever. No big deal though. It costs like $2.00. The install take about 30 minutes. The hardest part is getting the pin that hold the old lever in place out so you can install the new one. I found that it was much easier to get to everything if I removed the dash cover that's over the instrument cluster. Anyway, just take the screws out of the 2 plastic sides of the column, slide the boot that covers lever off, and you'll be good to go.

I have a post out there somewhere that I think gives you the exact part names if you can't find them online, but I think it is called a selector lever.
Good luck!
