77 ford step side
Here is what the current owner has to say about it:
I've been trying to determine I guess the same thing you have since I've owned the truck. If it's any help I determined that if I did the work myself, Did what I saw was needed to the body, ie fix the rust and paint, a little interior work that it would cost me roughly 1200.00. The closest I've been able to determine watching e-bay which I think is a good market the truck after I got done with it would be worth about 3000.00. I hope maybe that will help. My problem with doing that is I don't have the facilities, The box would need to come completely off and turned upside down to fix. After that it would be a easy fix, just cut away the old rusted steel and weld in new. There is enough of the old left to determine where the bolt hole for the floor need to be located and every thing. I only have a single car garage and would have to do most of the work out side, with out the help of a winch or anything to lift it except human bodies.
The odometer says 35000 which I take to be 135000. When I bought the truck I was told that the engine was overhauled not long before I bought it, But I have no way of knowing that for certain other than it seems to have plenty of power and has moderate oil consumption (1qt per 1000 mi.). The frame is in good shape. It appears to have recently installed rear springs. Other than the brake issue the truck is reliable now, Right front tire has a slow leak, I just fill it when it needs it. (waiting for a tire and wheel upgrade). A couple of pumps hit the starter and it fires right up. It may need a warmer thermostat for real cold weather. All in all it's a pretty good candidate for restoration I think. I don't think one would ever lose anything by saving it however I can't say what exactly it my turn out to be worth in the future. Any other question feel free to ask.
What do you think?
