what's wrong with my trans?
I need help, my 88 EB w/302 and aod has issues. when pulling hills in od it will shift down after alot of pedal pushing then it starts shuddering, if i pull it into drive the shuddering stops but starts right back when put back in od. this does not happen all the time and it shifts ok any other time. what could it be? I also hear a odd noise when sitting at a stop light(kind of a vibrating hum) it goes away when i step on the gas even just a little. is my truck possesed or what?

I had a similar problem with my EOD. Also, experienced a similar problem with a mustang tranny. Try changing the fluid and the filter. The problem is that the fluid loses it's viscosity. My problem felt like i was running over rain grooves in the pavement. This seems to be a common problem with high mileage ford automatics. Let me know if this sounds familiar.

I just had it flushed and the filter changed a month ago my mechanic brother-in-law says thats the problem and the torque converter is going. the bumps in pavement is exactly what it feels like
