what do you need it for? did you lift your truck, shorten/length wheelbase, or swap to a different length of transmission?
if you answered 'no' to all of those questions, then you don't need a custom driveshaft.
if you are unfortionate enough to have a slip yoke in the back of your transfer case, it would pay to replace it with a fixed yoke xfer case and driveshaft with a slip yoke in it. However, I wouldn't do that unless you four wheel your truck a lot. If you'd break your rear driveshaft, you could drive your truck home on the front axle if you had a fixed yoke.
the last drive shaft i bent, and blew the t-case, the second i ripped off the u joints, and the last one broke the universal and the u-joint cracked on the diff
to answer bremen242, no i dont have any added hp, and i have a hell of a lot of wheel hop, and no lift. And to question mustang70, where can i get the upgraded parts
you need to run some traction bars. That is what is killing your driveshaft. I had 1310 or 1330s on my f150 and hammered the crap out of them without a breakage.
what's happening is the front of your rear end is lifting up and snapping down on your driveshaft... it is a violent action that is a sure way to break something.
A custom drive shaft would help, but wouldn't solve the core problem.
84 F250 You have a very common problem which is called "axle wrap", which breaks "u joints" upon sudden acceleration.
If you are interested, I will explain!
