hey guys i slid my baby into a ditch today. its texas and we have snow...kind of an oxymoron if you ask me. well anyways, i got out but now when i reverse i hear a loud pop come from the middle/rear of the van. could this be the rearend or the driveshaft? of course its kind of cold so i dont really feel like gettin under it to check it out right now but i was just hoping somone could help me out. thanks
i saw an episode of King of the HIll where it snowed and they called for a state-wide emergency. it was funny they got an inch of snow and their little world stopped turning!
we get any less than a foot and we still play golf. just get out the orange golf *****.
what brings us to a dead stop is the freezing rain. it coats everything in an inch or 2 thick coat of ice. trees and pwoerlines come down. and the steep curvature of the road makes it impossible to keep cars out of the gutter, 4wd or not!
but your POP sounds like a driveshaft U-joint to me. but why would that happen after an encounter with a ditch?
My guess would be u-joint, slide under a little, grab the driveshaft and see if there is any play. Did a little rocking with the transmission, did you :-)
Coming from the guy who lives with snow for 6 months a year. Went for a "spur of the moment trip" and one of my back brakes bound up. So I get to do a brake job outside in the snow at -29F tomorrow.
