I have a 1985 broncoII and i need to replace the oil pan, i tried jackin it up by the oil pan and putting blocks between the mounts, cant get enough clearance any ideas?
lift out engine your not going get it out without lifting the engine if you do manage to do it i would like to see how you managed but otherwise your wasting your time.
Yeah, I just went through the same thing. I had to disconnect the exhaust and the transmission and hoist the engine up a good six inches or so before the pan would come out. Broke all four bolts on the Y-pipe while I was at it. What fun!
disconnect tranny and just lift out engine is possible but not needed you still have about 1ft of clearance between the upper part of trans and the flooring enough to level the engine and take out the oil pan if you have the money i would try to put in a new oil pump and screen while your down there but that's my opinion.
tried that project on my 88 b2 without much succes but i had limited tools to work with if you can get the suspention to hang and the motor up high enuf the repair books say it can be done without actually removing the engine. i agree with monty06 do the pump and screen while your at it save yourself a headache in the future
