It happened today on the way to work. Really, it the heli-coil is that blew that I used to repair the port from the last time the plug blew (cylinder #7). The heli-coil lasted about 41,000 miles, so maybe I shouldn't complain. I've got 154,000 on it now and don't really want to get rid of it anytime soon.
The engine sounded a little loud this morning (ticking-wise), but I thought it was related to the cold weather in ATL today (~22deg F).
I guess I'm off to replace the head, unless someone else has any other recommendations. I will listen to any and all!
My truck:
2000 F-150
4WD
4.6L V8
154,000 miles
automatic
thanks in advance!!!

I believe too much damdage has been done to the head from the first time the plug blew in October 2003 and yesterday when the heli-coil blew. If I had the mechanical expertise (and maybe a back up vehicle!), I would probably try it again tho.
At this point, I think I'll have to replace the head.
Is ford doing anything about this yet? Minnesota channel #4 news did a investigation on this about a month ago, after that I figured ford would start looking at it a little harder and maybe do some kind of a recall or maybe a 50/50 campaign on it. I realize you have alot of miles on your truck but in my opion this is one of those things that should just not happen. My 99' at 54000 miles has not done it YET but I'm waiting, and you can bet I'll call ford and at least bitch to make me feel better.
