battery replacement

I want to replace the batteries in my '02 PSD. I was thinking of getting the Optima Red tops,or just getting new OEM Motorcrafts. What's the better choice? If I go with the Optima,will they fit ok in the original battery tray? Thanks for any advice.

Just replaced the batteries in my 2002 F350 PSD and my wife's 2001 Excursion PSD with Everstart MaxxStart 65N from Wal-Mart. $58.84 each with a 3 year free replacement warranty plus 108 month prorated warranty.

I put in dual Red top Optimas and they fit nice and hold their charge very well. They are 3 years old and going strong.

If you go with the Optima's, be sure to get the clamps that hold it in place. Most Optima retailers don't stock them but you can call Optima direct and they'll send you out some freebies.

I changed my batteries last year, compair battery specs.... I found the motorcraft batteries are alot stronger and last longer. My first battery change was after 5 years of owning my truck. and that is with harsh Upstate NY winters. simple test that sold me was the weight of the batteries. Motorcraft batteries weigh alot more!(even though ford dont make them)
