frame measurments
Ford must make a book or data sheet with frame measurments. Does anyone know where they can be found,
I posted this question on the 87-96 F-series forum and got no replies.
Thanks....
). I think it cost $500 to fix it - one side was bent 5 inches lower than the other. It was a 64 Malibu SS convertible and I was a stupid kid..
It's not an exact science, because if it's bad it might not be worth the time or money to straighten it to factory specs. What they can do is balance things out so that it drives and tracks straight. If you're having a hard time seeing any damage visually or with a tape measure, it probably wouldn't cost much to have it checked out. You can do some diag. measurements and check rail to ground measurements from one side to the other. Plus, have someone turn the front wheels through the full range while you look under and check for loose rivits, (I've used a floor jack to check this, too). Check the impact area, if it didn't go beyond the sheet metal, a lot of times you can cross your fingers.
It just so happens that i do have another 94 to check the damaged one against.
The damaged one went into a tree between the right front wheel and the frame. broke the tie rod coupling, bent the drag rod and broke off the core support mounting.
the truck only has 80,000 miles and is in good shape otherwise. I paid the towing bill and took ownership, was going to use some parts on my other 94, but this one looks better.
