i've got a 90 f150 300 I6 mazda 5spd 4x2
it had a 3:08 rearend and i changed it to a 3.55, my problem now is getting the speedometer right. has anyone done this change ? no what part number i need ?
ford sold me a speedo gear i installed it but it is still 8 or 10 mph off, they said i have to change the gear on the output shaft of the tranny. no other truck i've own had to have the output shaft speedo gear changed, i live in a lil town and most the ppl have not a clue at this dealer ship.
speedo was dead on with the 3.08 gear, thanks for a quick response.
i'll have dig the old gear out of my tool box, as for the new gear im not sure. id really hate to lay under my truck in the snow and 9 degree to pull it and count the teeth lol
I have an 88 Bronco that originally had 3:55's. I had 4:10's put in and it threw the speedo way off. I had to just keep on buying more gears until I got the right one. I used my GPS to see how fast I was going. It is still like 2 mph off but that is close enough for me.
