Motor Mounts

I have a fairly new set of stock replacement motor mounts in my possession. The mounts went on my 302 about a year ago, and I replaced them. I am now putting in a 400 horse 393, and am wondering if I should just re-use those motor mounts, or if I should get some better ones. Would the ones I have work ok or am i much better off buying better ones?

What I keep hearing is "use Ford motor mounts". That is, mounts acquired from a Ford dealer. However, most of those people were referring to less powerful motors.

I didn't listen, and ended up buying a poly mount. No experience with it yet. Engine had to be pulled shortly after the mounts went in.

I think the "best" mount is a matter of opinion. IMO, if the mounts you have are new, or almost new, then use them.
400 hp is a significant step up from stock, but I don't think it's "seriouse" enough to require special mounts. Of course if you have a 2 speed throttle (floored, and no throttle) that might make a difference.

If there is a legitimate reason to scrap a new motor mount in favor of something else, I haven't heard it yet. In which case, hopefully, someone will be along shortly to enlighten us.
