Is it worth it?
I have a 1991 Explorer with 104K on it. I just had the clutch replaced ($385) the first time the mechanic drove the car after the replacement the slave cylinder went out. Is it worth having this fixed too? The body is in excellent condition. I have a freon leak and have been told by two mechanics that I have a bent axle and told by another that I don't have a bent axle. Other than this I have not had any problems.

My '93 served me well for about 165,000 miles. Only reason I replaced it is because the wife got embarassed when we would go pick up the kids from their private school and all the other parents were in their lexus and mercedes SUV's. It still runs great so I turned it over to a nephew just getting his drivers license.
If you look at the total cost of your transportation, seems like spending a few hundred to fix it is better than spending a few hundred each month on a car payment.
