Starter change.

98 F-150 XLT 2x4 4.2L auto.

Brand new fully charged battery.

Starter just clicks.

It's either shot or it's frooze cause we've had alot of up and down temps.

What's the labour to change one?

I looked underneath and looks like the trany cooling lines need to come off.

It's too damn cold here to do myself so it's in the shop now.

Just wondering how much labor I'll have to pay.

I undid the two bolts and removed the starter from the bell housing and it could barely turn it's self over, never mind the engine.

This problem occured after the truck sat for 3 days in very cold temps. We went from rain and 0c to -30c.

That's why I think moisture might have gotten in it and frooze.

Thanks.

I'm glad that worked out for you.

Aren't you glad it was too cold to remove your bellhousing, disconnect the tranny lines, remove the starter, replace it with a new one just to find out it was the cable going to it.

Now go out and get a lottery ticket.
