Hoping you all could help me out...

94 F-150 manual locking hub's

When 4 wheel drive is engaged my front passenger tire 'grabs' while turning. It's very pronounced and jerky any ideas?

Both front tires should do that depending on the way you turn. The front and back tires turn at the same speed when going straight but in a turn they are spinning at different speeds thats why it is binding. Four wheel drive is best used when the conditions are slippery. It is not recomended to drive on the dry roads in 4x4. If you think you may need 4x4 just lock the hubs in but don't put the transfer case in 4x4 until you need it.

Chris seems logical I Just don't remember it doing this so bad... I did have to use 4 wheel drive to get out of a driveway that was covered in slimy maple leaves. Quit embarrassing.

Thanks for the advise I really appreciate it!

Don't be embarrassed by slippery maple leaves. The major use of 4 wheel drive in my truck is to successfully pull the stock trailer out of the pasture when loaded on a day when the grass is wet. I use it for that function at least twice a week. The other use is on construction lots where they have #57 stone over red clay at the entrance to the lot and red clay forever after. Chris is dead on as to your wheel hop in the front end. Once the axle is "wrapped" it has to come "unwrapped" and equalize. Just make sure not to keep your t-case engaged.

Locking hubs & axle bind

If and when you have problems dis-engaging the front axle from axle bind (driving to long on non-slippery terain) try putting it in reverse and rolling backwards a ways, you may have to turn the steering wheel some in the process if they're stubborn. works for me all the time. Good Luck

shoot the first year i had my 4x ranger i used 4 low for pulling up out of boat ramps more than i needed it in 4 high for winter. this year however is looking different. ive had it in 4H for 2 days now due to this snow weve gotten, sure gets around great, even better than the taurus with new tires. mine are barely-legal a/t treads.
