90 302 bronco I have replaced the module on the side of the distributor, coil, the condencer, and the roter... and for the life of me the damn thing wont start...I hooked a spark plug to the coil wire and was getting a red spark<---bad news... the cpu shows no codes....help me plz!!!!!!!
An old mechanic told me to replace the whole distributor assembly as something goes wrong with the magnetic pickup and it feeds the coil some how before the coil sends power back to the distributor and also to replace my key switch in the steering colum as I need to push lightly up on the steering wheel to get it to start when the key is turned(he thinks that might be the problem)
If it can be bolted on I can do it but I'm not a full mechanic.... any help would be appreciated!
Its possible that the inductive pick-up (stator sensor) has died in the disty. like your mechanic friend suggested. However, you can check the stator sensor for PIP signal before you go replacing the entire disty. Haynes details the procedure pretty well in their manual. Check that everything inside the distributor UNDER the rotor is bolted down securely. If anything comes loose, the stator sensor may not function properly due to alignment issues inside the distributor.
BTW a red spark isn't hot enough. Might do well to check coil resistance... both primary and secondary. Again, Haynes manual details this.
