Water Pumps

I have a 76 302 and the water pump went on it so I was wondering if I should upgrade it or buy another stock one? Will there be a noticeable difference in anything?
The truck's not used for any work really or towing so there won't be any real loads on the engine and probably no city driving as I live out in the bush. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

I'd just buy a stock one if it cooled fine before.

Ok, I got the truck in the spring but haven't got it out on the road yet so I don't know how it really cools so I was just asking if it was a worthwhile upgrade.
I've had problems with cars heating up a bit over the course of a night due to my lead foot. So i wanted to avoid problems. It came with a transmission cooler as well so thats been taken care of to.

Stock one should be fine! IMO a lot of those heavy duty water pumps are'nt what they're cracked up to be.

You might make sure your cooling system is clean - radiator dirt can cause overheating as well.
