Thumbs up flashing

I stopped by the closest ford dealer to me and was very pleased with what i found. They have a seperate shop that has 10-12 bays and 5 dedicated diesel certified mechanics. I spoke to one about having a problem with hesitation when stompng on accellerator going around 40-50 mph. He said that it was probably one of the EGR sensors and that the whoole assembly might need to be removed, cleaned, & sensors replaced. They work on 95% diesels in the truck garage. He also told me that they ALWAYS REFLASH trucks whenever they are brought in. The service advisor seemed to know a lot about diesels and said that when they brought out the 7.4 they had many problems with it but said that the 6.0 is much more reliable than the 7.4 was when first introduced. All in all I was very impressed with their whole operation & will be going there next week for check & reflash. If anyone else has been to Prestige Ford in Garland chime in & let me know how it went.

Tiny...I have used Prestige service for years. They don't always get my sale but they always get my service.

The 2 service writers for diesels have been there for a long time and generally speaking always answer my questions (albeit, they do tend to follow the company line most times). A lot of knowlegde there.

They were supposed to have 7 cert. diesel techs by now but at least one of them spends most of his time a the recently acquired Linclon dealership as they get a good amount of 6.0s in at that shop.

All in all a really good, knowledgeable, group of guys.

BTW: I think that it is very interesting that they have an extremely low # of buybacks on the 6.0. (a couple of months ago Lee told me they had 3 or 4)When you consider that Prestige is, arguably, the global sales leader in Ford trucks I think that is extraordinary.

KW thanks for your reply, I thought you had posted awhile back that you had an excellent dealer/service dept & am happy prestige is the one! I wouldn't buy a truck there either as I have heard from his employee's that Reynolds is a real (language removed) & treats his employee's pretty bad! We bought a car from them for my mom who is 80 & they tried every trick in the book to hijack her. Luckily my sister & I went with her & she had cash to buy the vehicle. Man they hit you in waves, first they brought out a california emission equiped vehicle that had none of the options the vehicle had that she test drove & had a written quote for, then it was the extended warranty that all 80+ people should have, then they couldn't sell it with a full size spare (which she wanted), or it was going to cost 600 more, so we said forget the spare, & after 4 hours haggling we got it for our price & you could see that they were ticked off. Will never do it again!

Tiny...Prestige Ford does play the game pretty hard. Back in the early 90's I bought my wife a T-Bird...After a lot of haggling w/Jerry Reynolds himself he told me that there was no way Town East would sell me the same equip'ed car for the price that Town East had quoted.

I called my T.E. sales guy and confirmed the price right in front of him. Jerry watched us climb in car and told us we'd be back. Little did J.R. know that the car T.E. quoted was the same vehicle we were dealing with on his lot. T.E. had already arranged a vehicle trade w/Prestige so we could get the color we wanted.

With all that said...they have hit about 50% of my truck purchases which have been 8 in the last 14 years. + a couple of my brother's trucks.

My wife & kids vehicles have been purchased elsewhere and there are to many of those to mention. Not enough bandwidth.

Smile

KW, I have bought through fleet wherever I buy, it seems to eliminate a lot of headache for me. They always seem to be right at what I want to pay & i do a lot of price research. I drive mine till the wheels fall off so I can afford my wife's spending habits. She is one of those that buys things & puts them away somewhere in the house & when she breaks it out & I ask about it her reply is "I've had it forever" and "It was on sale". I give the standard dumb husband reply of "Oh!" Have a merry Christmas & thanks for your help here!
