Please help!
Hi, sorry in kind of a hurry tried to search but not having any luck. My dad has a 89 ranger 4x4 ext.cab V-6 auto. He's tring to replace the U-joints in the front axle, problem is there not wanting to come out. Anything special he needs to do to get them out? Thanks Ed

There are 3 joints on the front axles. The two outer ones are pretty easy to get out. You need to remove the wheels and brake rotor to pull the axles. The right one has a slip joint with a rubber boot that will allow removal. The left one should just pull out. The center one is a lot more difficult. You either need to replace it while the axle shaft is still installed in the differential (which can be quite tedious) or drop the complete front end to access the C-clip holding the shaft in place. If you do drop the front end, there is a neat and simple modification you can make so that if you need to ever replace the center joint, the shaft will come out. Let me know if you need the info for that.
