OK, so i understand how this mod works.... but i was wondering how to plug up the hole in the intake hose? i'm planing on sticking with the stock hose and was wondering the best way to plug up that hole....thanks
The easiest way is ditch that stock part and use a piece of 4" exhaust pipe to replace it. You don't have to worry about plugging the hole, and you lose the intake restriction that is inside the stock part! If you're really set on plugging the stock one - my first thought is use a small piece of your 3/4" that you'll have for the mod already. Hose clamp it on where the stock CCV went, and stick a pipe plug or something in the other end and hose clamp that. It is suction you are fighting - not pressure - so it wouldn't have to be real fancy.
thanks cat man.... yea i was worried about pulling some forign object through the hole, like a bird or small animal and getting sent through the turbo (my cat got sucked in once.... so we got a dog).... I'm getting some exhuast set up next week with a buddy of mine.... so i might just grab a piece of exhuast pipe and throw it in there... thanks for the idea! happy holidays also -Robbgt
You also can take the collar off of the engine, saw the little snorkle off and run a NPT tap up into the tube sticking down. Run a threaded plug into the hole and it's plugged for good.
You can buy a 3/4" rubber cap from a auto parts store that carries the HELP products. They make them for small block Che** water pumps so one pump with 20 oultets can fit a million cars and trucks. You use these caps with a hose clamp around them to plug the unused outlets. I have had one in service for at least a year and it is holding up fine!
Ultimately the idea of replacing that whole assembly with a piece of 4" exhaust is best. The reduction of the interior area due to the raised floor where the breather enters is pretty obvious and significant! Reminds me of the obstruction the shaft of the EPBV creates!
ccv mode do you just plug the small blue sensor line that origanilly plug into the side of plastic housing that i am replacing with a piece of 4" s.s.
