hello.....i dont know anything about bodywork...but im going to fix up my 87 f-150 4x4 after i put a new 5.0L in it. i talked to my body man and he said to get a new bed, and buy cab corners for it, bring the truck to him and he will do the rest. my question is....the JC Whitney cab corners are cheap. is there a reason for that...or are they as good as anyone else? (if anyones got a good bed and tailgaite for my truck im looking) thank you...........oh........long bed....i guess i need to mention that.....oh........duel tanks too.....
I put JC Whitney cab corners in my '70 10 years ago- they worked fine and are still there. Like any raw metal, make sure you goop 'em up inside and out with something to prevent rust. I used POR 15. I've noticed you can get the back of the cab corners, but not the fronts (they're hollow) I had to make some out of sheetmetal, but I couldn't match the ribs in the original. Wonder why nobody makes 'em?
thanks....you all know your stuff....hey when i pull the bed i was told to bead blast the frame. what should i shoot it with after i do......and should i blast the bottom of the cab too?....thank you
good gotallmighty!!!! 1200.00 for a freakin bed? i found one in the trader off a 90 model for 300...and had a tailgate! 300 obo!

I've got the bed off of my '75 to replace the cab corners also. I just wire wheeled the frame and i'm going to coat it with Eastwoods black Rust Encapsulator. I'm just brushing it on. Goes on a bit thicker that way and takes a bit more time but looks great. I've used it before and it holds up well. I'll probably top coat it with some of their chassis paint.
that eastwood stuff looks pretty good.....i might do the same....bead blast the frame and under-cab.....heat the garage...drink a few beers.....and just brush away! how much do you think ill need?
